Prayer Requests week of 3/26

Well, this is the last official week of March, and as we really dive into spring I hope everyone is blessed. Post any prayer requests for the week of 3/26 here.

Verse of the day

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 1Peter 4:8

Sometimes, especially in situations of multiple hurts and and anger, it can be difficult to feel any positive emotion, much less love. However, we are called by God to love others, even when they are unlovable. So today, when you are thinking of that person who has really hurt you, God still calls you to love that person.

Verse of the day

18 "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength" Ephesians 1:18-19

Sometimes it is difficult to hope. Life can be full of hurts and disappointments. However, God wants to give us hope...through the Holy Spirit and through his son Jesus Christ. All we have to do is take a leap of faith....and hope. I hope this weekend brings a new hope to everyone.

By speaking the truth, in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ. Ephesians 4:15

Telling the truth is sometimes difficult. Often times we justify "little white lies" to "protect others", when in reality we are just protecting ourselves from situations that can be potentially stressful. Yes, sometimes the truth is difficult to hear. However, we are called to speak the truth in love, and it's a path we should all take. When speaking the truth will be difficult, pray before having those discussions and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. The words to say will be given to you if you ask.

Verse of the day

If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Romans 12:8

The Bible talks about spiritual gifts in various areas. As Christians we are called to understand the spiritual gifts that God has given us so that we may use them to serve him. One thing we can all do is really try to encourage one another. Yes, some people just seem to have this gift, but it's something we can all practice to make the life of those around us a little better.

Verse of the day

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I got happy and instead of one verse I had several verses.lol Well, tonight is the first "day" of spring, and the seasons are once again beginning to change. Our lives can be so similar to the changing of seasons, and these verses just exemplify that. Truly, there is a season for everytime in our life, and what we have to do in every season is look to the Lord for guidance, and treat one another as Christ treat us. In the coming season of spring I hope this is a season of hope for everyone. A season of growth and love.

Prayer requests week of 3/19

It's another week, and another Monday. Yippee!lol As we go into this new week, feel free to post any prayer requests. I want to pray for you.

Have a great week, and God bless!

Sandy :)

Verse of the day

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:25

Forgiveness...what a touchy subject for some of us. Actually, for many of us. Over the last year one of the things I have discovered is that God's grace, forgiveness and mercy are infinite. However, he expects us to forgive others so that we may fully receive his forgiveness. This is definitely easier said than done, but it's so well worth the effort because of the release and peace that forgiveness brings. Today, if you are holding a grudge, pray about it and forgive. It's a God thing.

Verse of the day

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

My post a couple days ago had more verses from this chapter, and I wanted to continue with more about love, and how important it is to God that we open our hearts to love one another. Note that verse 2 basically states that if "I do not have love, I am nothing". Love comes from God, and he expects us to love one another as Christ loved us.

It's a BOY!!

I just got the good news that my younger brother and his wife (Randy and Jennifer) are expecting a little boy! I have a very cute, precocious niece (who will be 2 in June), and in July she will have a baby brother!! Can you tell I am excited by the news?lol

Verse of the day

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:17

There can be so much ambiguity in life, especially when it comes to "right v/s wrong". Sometimes life can be very subjective. It's during those times that we must seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to determine what is right for us to do. Then, if we feel led to not do something, but continue on with that lifestyle (including just ignoring the feeling that there is something just not right with what we are doing), we do harm our relationship with the Lord because we are ignoring his direction. This can be difficult at times, but it's well worth it in the effort to grow in your relationship with the Lord.

Verse of the day

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love can often be a "taboo" subject in today's times. However, the Bible gives very specific instructions on how to love. This particular chapter in the Bible is one of my favorites because in some ways I feel that Paul epitomizes love in this particular chapter, and as difficult as it may sound we should strive to love like this. More to come from this chapter at a later date.

Verse of the day

Pray continuously. 1 Thesselonians ch. 5:17

Continuos prayer sounds virtually impossible. However, my feeling is that we are supposed to constantly be seeking guidance from the Lord to stay strong in our virtues and to lean on Him in order to do what's right. Prayer is our way to talk to God, and He is our heavenly father and wants to hear from us because of His love for us.

Verse of the day

So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36

Great verse. If you have heard the Newsboy song Free you know what I mean. There can be such freedom found if you put your trust in Jesus.

Prayer Requests week of 3/11

As I mentioned previously, I am going to take prayer requests. Feel free to post a prayer request on here. I will do this weekly. I will pray for the requests posted. God Bless!!

Sandy

Woo Hoo

I took the rebel out today for my first ride of the season! Had a blast. I actually put the battery back in myself!hehehehe

Verse of the day

I had an awesome service at church today, and wanted to share a verse:

Be still, and know that I am Go; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

My take: sometimes we let "life" get in the way of doing God's will. We let hurts, disappointments, anger and other emotions control our lives, and miss blessings that the Lord wants to give us. During those times it's good to just "be still"...get in the word and pray. The Holy Spirit wants to guide us, we just have to give up control.

Verse of the day

I have decided that I am going to add a verse of the day that I like...at least on most days. Today's is from http://proverbs31devotions.blogspot.com/. Proverbs 27:17, “You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.”

It's great to surround ourselves with other believers. Especially when we are going through trials.
